Probate Programs & Services

There are several governmental services that can assist you with the probate process. This is all dependent on what state/county/or city that you reside in. Take a look at local resources. This is not to be misconstrued as legal advice, or a should be seen as a substitute from a lawyer.

I. Public Administrator, Guardian, Conservator: A Public Guardian/Conservator is sometimes appointed by the county in cases where there is an adult who cannot take care of their finances or themselves. If the adult who is mentally ill, incapacitated, or elderly, and is under conservatorship, and no friend or family of this person can be found, the Guardian can also be appointed trustee of the estate.

In contrast, a Public Administrator can be appointed in cases where there is a deceased person, and there is no family member able/capable to handle the estate.

In cases of a will, the Court could appoint the Executor.
